Founded in 1887 by Perley George Keyes and his partner Alfred Geddes, we are the oldest Kennel Club in Canada, boasting a proud history of passion and dedication to the dog community.
The Ottawa Kennel Club is a federal Not-For-Profit Corporation which is a member of and operates under the regulations and directives of the Canadian Kennel Club. Our mission is clear: to provide unwavering support to our members in all aspects of raising dogs, with a special focus on purebred and performance dogs. We are committed to enhancing the canine culture not only in the National Capital Region but also across wider communities.

At it’s October 2025 General Meeting the Ottawa Kennel Club Members approved an Honorary OKC Membership on Dr. Amber Labelle DVM MS DACVO Dr. Labelle has partnered and collaborated with The Ottawa Kennel Club regularly for over three years, in offering OFA Eye clinics to our breeder, exhibitor and pet community in Ottawa. She has generously offered in-depth education to our breeder community, once again in close collaboration with and at no cost to our club.
During her work with The Ottawa Kennel Club, Dr. Labelle has been very gracious with her time in giving her expert knowledge and opinion to many hundreds of owners in regards to the future care for their dogs. She has always been adamant that her scheduled appointments are longer than typically required. She has a very engaging manner, which has led to many owners from near and far, travelling on a regular basis for our OFA clinic offerings. In the course of our many clinics, Dr. Labelle has also offered free examinations for registered service dogs and to local veterinarians, who bring their dogs to see her. She is respectful of the community she offers her services to and is most certainly a giver, in the true sense. Her Clinic Bright Light Veterinary Eye Care is certainly a bright light in the Ottawa Veterinary Community.
